AWS Availability Zones
Today's topic is availability zones (AZs). Consider each AZs logically as a separate AWS datacenter. However, do not consider it to be a single structure or building.
Each AWS region has an Availability Zone (AZ) that contains redundant power, networking, and connectivity. Customers can run production applications and databases more reliable, fault-tolerant, and scalable from AZs than they could in a single data center. Basically, These Availability zones are isolated from each other by a 100 Km to 60 miles of radius or maybe more.
The numbered areas in the image above represent the Availability zones (AZs). Each AZ changes by region based on the amount of use. Similar to Virginia, which has 6 AZs as customers increase their AWS usage. AWS expands its infrastructure in accordance with this. Additionally, the empty boxes that you can see in the above image are new regions that will be arriving soon.
The important thing to note is that all of the data being carried will be encrypted because these AZs and regions are connected by a dedicated high-speed fiber cable, which offers a smoother network or reduced latency between these regions and zones.
Inside these AZs we can have multiple servers, storages, and Network Equipements.
